Westmoreland Slip Books
Partial reconstruction of three damaged plantation account slip books from Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica, using cross-referenced merchant ledgers.

Two of the three slip books have lost most of their cover pages and at least a third of their interior leaves. The third has survived more or less intact but has been re-bound in a way that puts pages out of sequence.
Reconstruction uses Glasgow and Liverpool merchant ledgers as a parallel record, on the basis that estate shipments tend to leave a paper trail in at least two places.
The reconstruction is not a fair copy. It is a working document that flags every assumption, missing leaf and probable mismatch.
